The U.S. Department of Energy's Oak Ridge Office will conduct a controlled burn on Monday at the East Tennessee Technology Park on the Oak Ridge Reservation.

The burn area involves 10 acres within the Heritage Center, west of the two new speculative buildings in the technology park.

TWRA is using periodic controlled burning as a natural way to improve the native warm season grassy meadows and switch grass stands. The burning helps reduce competition from unwanted weeds and grasses and also improves the soil through absorption of the resulting ash.

The State of Tennessee Division of Forestry will oversee the burn, weather permitting.
